there's something really quixotic about getting up on a saturday and deciding you want to go to maine. we drove all of twenty minutes before we need starbucks, all of 2 minutes before we ate at applebees, and then no more than 30 seconds before sonic. a detour to the atlantic ocean had us battling with barnacles, seawead, and unimaginably tricky rocks, all of which might have eaten us. and then, we shopped.
i love jcrew.
and now, laundry calls my name. differential equations don't do themselves you know. and my roommate's little sister is going to bed, so i should be a good hostess and turn of the lights so she can sleep. goodnight world.

waffles
just had some really tasty waffles. and i'm about to use a waffle as a metaphor for my life. because the waffle itself wasn't that great, what made it so good was the toppings i put on! kind of like my classes, they aren't going so great, but i'm doing a lot of other amazing things, so the experience in general is awesome!
i'm also really excited about going home (surprise!).
you know, i really do a lot of awesome things here.... watch meteor showers on roofs, make toys, play with chocolate dispensers, see great concerts in other states, rehabilitate my knee, swing dancing. thank you God for life!

friday
i hate how fridays suck. it seems like everyone else enjoys one maybe two classes in the morning before they can officially start their weekend. my friday doesn't really start until 5 p.m. thanks to toy design...
but that's enough self pity for today.
and are the people next to me *really* talking about who set up their trust funds???

444
there's 444 emails in my inbox that i haven't read. usually i delete them as soon as i get them, but a few weekends ago, i was in la, and therefore did not delete emails for a whole weekend. and now, they're taking over the world.
which is nice because i won't get to them this week, which means there will be nearly a thousand here soon, all because i'm going home this weekend.
and i don't need to say how much i love home. i will eat my dad's cooking, my mom's cupcakes, dress up jackie for halloween, consume copious amounts of starbucks, sleep in, see my grandma, and get enough hugs to last until christmas break. i never thought i'd still miss my parents this much.

a weekend away is good for the soul
because i'm pretty sure MIT is bad for the soul. where constant pressure to do good work, find a way to get experience, prepare yourself for a career, and do it day after day until your sick. where you can't have priorities other than your classes. and don't get me started on the weather. it's freezing. God made the sun, so why can't we all live in places where we can really enjoy it, instead of setting up camp somewhere cold and gloomy.
so let's all go to disneyland, eat ice cream, pretend we're still kids and wear flip flops in october. let's reunite with things and people we love. and wish that everyday could be like the one before.

i love relient k as much as i did in 8th grade
even as i write this, the freshman in the next room has "faking my own suicide" on repeat for all of us to enjoy. that is one hilariously depressing song.
seriously, i love relient k. no other music stayed with me through junior high, high school, and college. which is not only a testimony to the fact that i have changed relatively little since junior high, but also the fact that they have an incredible ability to relate to nearly all of my emotions.
and they rocked in concert. clearly they knew i was going to be there. which is why they did a little mermaid cover. if that doesn't scream "dani you love disney as much as you love us so we will honor both of your loves" then i don't know what does.
thank you God for relient k. and awesome people to see it with.
